Full on-site service – in cooperation with Rotterdam Ship Repair
Since October 2016, MWB Power from Bremerhaven has been represented by a branch at Europe’s largest deep-water port. Together with Rotterdam Ship Repair, the complete range of ship and motor repairs are covered in Rotterdam.
A key geographical advantage lies in the fact that, thanks to Rotterdam Ship Repair, there is now a company registered in Rotterdam from the German Dry Docks Group, of which MWB Power is part. “Through our relationship with Rotterdam Ship Repair, we have excellent market access within the Rotterdam port area. We want to make use of this advantage in the long term,” emphasises Jörn Holst, Technical Director for Engine and Mechanical Engineering at MWB Power and German Dry Docks.
24/7 service in a 24/7 port
With MWB Power, German engineering is moving to Rotterdam. “MWB is a well-known brand in Germany and further afield,” explains Leo Baks, Managing Director of Rotterdam Ship Repair. “We are now offering German quality workmanship in Rotterdam as well. At the same time, we are incorporating Dutch craftsmanship. A perfect Dutch-German combination. It is not only German customers who will appreciate this, but also international customers will be more closely tied to MWB Power”. Leo Baks also underlines the special quality of this port: “Rotterdam is an absolute 24/7 port. As such, there is also demand here for a 24/7 service. And MWB Power and Rotterdam Ship Repair are offering exactly that.”
MWB Power Rotterdam is a service partner for all tasks relating to engines and propulsion systems. The branch repairs and overhauls all 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines, coolers, turbochargers, gearing, speed controllers and fuel injection systems. In addition, the portfolio includes the installation of new diesel and gas engines, as well as conversions to environmentally sound LNG fuel.
MWB Power covers also all mobile ship and engine repairs together with Rotterdam Ship Repair – not only in the port of Rotterdam, but also worldwide.
The management of MWB Power Rotterdam is in the hands of Peter Kisslinger. “The potential that Rotterdam offers us is enormous, and that applies to the 2-stroke and 4-stroke sector”, he says, describing the perspectives of the new location. “With our expertise from MWB Power, which covers the complete range of diesel engines, we can be the service partner for the entire fleet, no matter which type of engine has been installed on each vessel.” Peter Kisslinger also sees a decisive competitive advantage in the cooperation with Rotterdam Ship Repair: “Our partners in Rotterdam have a huge customer and supplier network. This is an ideal prerequisite for our project.” By his estimation, MWB Power Rotterdam “…is now already able to offer a wide range of services. Our ambition is to be fully operational by mid-2017.”
